College Counseling

Just as Concord Academy works to support students' intellectual, physical, and moral development, the College Counseling Office does everything possible to guide, support, and serve as an advocate for our students as they consider an exciting variety of undergraduate options. Recognizing that this transition is significant both for students and their families, Concord Academy has college counselors with experience both in secondary schools and leading undergraduate admissions offices.

The College Counseling Office is happy to talk with students or their parents about the college counseling process at any time. Formal planning for college begins in the winter of the junior year when students and their parents meet for a workshop in January with the school's college counselors.

Students meet at least two times in the spring of their junior year with their designated counselor in order to refine their understanding of their interests, strengths, and tastes and to arrive at an ample list of colleges to investigate. Over the summer, students explore these colleges by obtaining information and making campus visits. In the fall of the senior year, students work with their counselor to refine their lists, visit colleges in session, and work on applications.
